I started working with Jesse 5 months after having a total knee replacement.
I had completed all of my required physical therapy and thought I was doing pretty well, but I wanted more strength and stability.
I have seen so much improvement through working with Jesse! My balance is better, my core is stronger, both legs are pretty equal in strength. Jesse listens to me and is accommodating to my needs. After more than a year of working with Jesse, I haven’t once regretted my decision. If I miss a week, my body tells me to get back to work!

MY STORY
On July 4th I was biking to a friend’s house to celebrate with fireworks and food. On the way I saw an ambulance race across the intersection and felt an eerie feeling come over me. I felt compelled to follow it, and despite it going in the opposite direction of my destination, I began chasing it, pedaling as hard as I could. The feeling intensified as it turned toward my house. By the time I got there the paramedics were already inside and our front door was propped open. I raced in the house, and saw my dad lying on the couch, pale and in a cold sweat with an EKG blipping on the coffee table next to him. Two paramedics hovered over him, and as I entered I heard one of them tell him he was having a heart attack. He was immediately lifted onto a stretcher and hooked up to an oxygen mask.
As they carried him past me, he mustered what little strength he had to look me in the eyes and slowly rotate his wrist and give me the thumbs up sign. He told me later that in that moment, he wanted let me know, “I wasn’t going anywhere”. I was 16 years old. After a long week of recovery, when the fear and tension had subsided, I sat on the front steps of my dad’s house reflecting on what had happened. Then a thought entered my head. Maybe from one angle, I could help prevent this from happening to others while doing something I have passion for. At that point I was heavily involved in resistance training and a plethora of other physical activities with no end in sight. It was at that moment that I truly began my journey into the field of personal training and the study of human movement with a newfound purpose.
PHILOSOPHY
NO TWO CLIENTS ARE ALIKE
I am often asked what a “typical” session looks like. The thing is, no two clients are exactly the same and, in most cases, their programs shouldn’t be either. For example, over the years I have worked with people who have a multitude of physical ailments.
Past clientele have come to me with pinched nerves, frozen shoulders, postural distortions, whip lash, torn ACLs, Trendelenburg hip syndrome, low back pain, scoliosis and post-polio, to name a few.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
What I have learned is that everyone’s program needs to be carefully customized to their needs, whether a physical ailment is present or not. Just the slightest adjustment to an exercise can make all the difference.
BOTTOM LINE
Research shows us that resistance training is one of the best ways to prevent and treat many ailments. Because of this, elements of resistance training are applied in almost every type of session I offer. With proper resistance training, your body in general becomes more effective at countless tasks, leading to a better quality of life.
HERE’S WHY
When your body has had a proper tune up you’re less likely to hurt yourself doing day to day tasks. You’re more balanced, you carry yourself with better posture and you’re stronger, more aware and in control of your body. Your reaction time quickens, and you have increased muscle mass and bone density.
WHAT’S MORE?
In addition, after analyzing hundreds of peer reviewed studies, research shows us that in those aged 50+ who engage in resistance training twice a week, a 20% reduction in all-cause mortality is seen. Translation — this basically means you are less likely to die from just about anything, if that’s not enough, these studies also show that’s accompanied with a 13% increase in cognition in those later years.
IT’S A FACT
To achieve this optimal level of functioning it is highly important that you are training the right way. Starting a program that isn’t suited to you or is improperly practiced can be detrimental. That’s where I come in, creating customized, adaptive approaches starting from where a person is and progressing to where they want to be, safely and effectively.
LET’S GET STARTED
At our first meeting we will discuss your goals, along with your likes and dislikes, and any physical limitations you may have, such as a back injury or sore ankle.
